Smoky Mountain Model Works, Inc. was formed in April 1990 as a part-time business producing custom-painted model railroad kits. In 1992, a line of styrene structure kits was introduced, followed in 1995 with cast urethane rolling stock kits. All of these offerings were in HO Scale.

Between 1996 and 2002, our "ground floor" involvement in 3D CAD, Rapid Prototyping and urethane casting attracted new customers and provided many opportunities for growth. In December 2002, SMMW went "full time" and was incorporated in early 2003.

In 2005, we added in-house injection mold design and molding capabilities, targeted toward prototyping, short- and medium-run production in “standard” materials, such as Polystyrene, ABS, LDPE/HDPE and PP. We also have a network of mold makers and molders capable of producing much larger parts than our vertical press will handle. Refer to the “Injection Molding” page for details.

SMMW continues to expand it's services and product line, both in the industrial and model railroad fields, using state-of-the-art technology and processes. We look forward to serving you.
